Cayuga Chamber of Commerce launches community cookbook
The Cayuga & District Chamber of Commerce is launching a great community initiative with proceeds going to the Cayuga Think Rink campaign. The chamber has come up with the idea of creating a community cookbook with submissions from all over the Cayuga area. Residents and businesses alike are invited to submit their favourite recipes. The cookbook is going to have over 300 recipes covering everything from appetizer & beverages, salads & dressings, soups & sauces, vegetables, main dishes to breads and desserts. “This is going to be great for the community. We are really excited to bring this all together and help out with the fund raising efforts of the Think Rink campaign at the same time’, says Colleen Armstrong, chair of the Chamber’s cookbook committee.
The theme for this cookbook is the new Cayuga arena and will try to incorporate anything to do with the actual building, the community use and the future of the rink as well as what it will mean to the people of Cayuga.
“We are encouraging anyone to scan in or copy pictures and send them in with a small story or favorite tidbit to do with the arena. We will have a few pages in the cookbook dedicated to talking about the rink. Do not send real photos as they won’t be returned. We really want a Think Rink flavour to this cookbook…..excuse the pun!” says Colleen.
A recipe selection will be made once all the recipe forms are collected. It is expected that there will be a tremendous amount of great recipe submissions from all over the community and the quicker the recipe forms are submitted to chamber, the better the chances are of getting it published. The chamber invites all local church groups, schools, businesses and Cayuga residents to take part in creating this local community cookbook. It will be a great Cayuga keepsake for years to come.
The recipe form to fill out can be found on the Cayuga & District Chamber of Commerce website at www.cayugachamber.ca or picked up and dropped off at either Haldimand County Museum and Archives, Grand Treats & Treasures (15 Cayuga St. N.) or Cayuga Motorsports (8 Cayuga St. N.)
